North East biomass firm opens Scottish office
A North East biomass energy specialist has made a key appointment to its business and opened a Scottish office as it continues to drive forward ambitious growth plans.
Respected biomass energy expert Steve Luker has joined Alnwick-based re:heat as principal consultant to add extra weight to its comprehensive portfolio of services, supporting client demand for green heating and leading work to drive up industry standards.
The firm will open an office in Glasgow with Steve’s appointment, where he will lead re:heat’s drive to grow their presence in the Scottish biomass energy marketplace.
Steve – who previously headed up Steve Luker Associates - is a trusted biomass and renewable energy consultant to a host of companies and organisations in Scotland, including local authorities, housing associations, the NHS, forestry and woodland sector and renewable energy industries.
He has a specialist technical knowledge of biomass, district heating and renewable heat technologies with recognised proficiency in business planning, policy development and contract delivery, advising the UK and overseas governments on biomass contracts.
Steve’s appointment is a milestone for re:heat which is enjoying rapid growth – last year reporting a turnover in excess of £3.8m.
“I have successfully worked together with re:heat on a variety of projects and bringing our expertise together seemed like a natural progression to make,” said Steve.
“I’m delighted to be appointed as part of the re:heat team who I know are respected leaders in the UK biomass energy sector.
“There are a number of market areas that we would like to pursue and Scotland is one of them, for example where there are biomass projects that have already been installed but are not running as efficiently and effectively as they could be.”
re:heat helps customers identify and buy the right biomass boilers for their needs and also works in designing systems, fuel supply logistics, fault-finding and problem resolution. The company has advised the UK Government on the future costs of biomass in a mass market as part of a growing demand for its expert consultancy services.
Director Neil Harrison said: “Steve is a major appointment for our business, bringing with him many years of experience in the biomass energy sector and a reputation for excellence.
“He has worked with many clients across Scotland and has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for the sector.
“He will run our new Glasgow office which gives us a physical presence in Scotland for the first time. Steve’s leadership will give us a trusted and influential presence in the marketplace as we continue to grow our business there.”
