Federation of Asian Business to Launch Northern England Collaberation in Newcastle

Asian Business Connexions have been collaborating with other northern Asian business associations from Manchester and Yorkshire for over 18 months to develop a strategy to galvanise the whole of the North, to help tackle and address the North/South divide.

The launch of the Federation of Asian Business will take place in Newcastle on July 14th at the Beacon on Westgate Road at the 7th Asian Business Connexions Awards Dinner.

Asian Business Support organisations from Yorkshire and the North West recognise the significant impact of Asian Business Connexions to date, which is more developed in all aspects of business and community support.

AB Connexions have been asked to consider chairing the new organisation, aligning the Federation of Asian Business to the Northern Powerhouse and driving forward an agenda of social and economic growth.

Newcastle-based businessman, Ammar Mirza, lobbied hard for the organisation to be head quartered in the North East as many people continue to think of the North of England as being Manchester or Sheffield.

The immediate goal is to form a single collaborative voice for all Asian businesses across the North of England followed by a plan of action that will help enhance the major impact Asian businesses already make on the UK economy. This will in turn help foster better community relations and improve social cohesion and education.

Ammar Mirza said: “I would encourage everyone to get behind the Federation of Asian Business and consider getting involved.

“Whilst the organisation will clearly prioritise Asian businesses the ambition is to mirror AB Connexion’s success in having an inclusive organisation that everyone can engage with.”

Attending the launch next month are three representatives of the Yorkshire Asian Business Association, President Ajaz Ahmad (Freeserve) and Chairman Amarjit Singh (Power Centres) together with their Regional Director Sharon Jandu.

The North West will be represented by Reo Asmal of Esparksolutions and the North West Asian Business Association, along with UK Asian Business Council, Chairman Taha Coburn- Kutay

Richard Skinner of Lloyds Newcastle BMW and a sponsor of the evening says “ When I heard about the launch of the Federation of Asian Business, I was very keen for us to be involved as it promises to be a fantastic evening for the North East, strengthening mutual business relationships in our region and beyond.“

Given the recent referendum and the current confusion, divisiveness and despair, the Federation of Asian Business will provide a unique and exciting opportunity to bring communities and businesses together to demonstrate the positive impact that collaboration can make.
