Employability 2016 a massive success
The recruitment event ‘Employability 2016’ was a massive success this week, with over 3,000 local people heading to St Georges Hall in Liverpool City Centre, on a mission to find work and training opportunities.
The event was organised by nine Merseyside Housing Associations, who joined forces with Job Centre Plus, Social Enterprise Network and Liverpool In Work to help local people into work by showcasing the variety of employment opportunities available to them.
Even Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, took time out of his busy schedule to pop by.
Over 80 employers exhibited, offering a variety of job vacancies in sectors including hospitality and leisure, construction, transport and logistics, retail, administration and social care.
One Vision Housing Employment and Skills Officer, David Milburn, said: “We were overwhelmed by the turnout; the event was a huge success with excellent feedback from those who attended. It just goes to show how many local people are proactively trying to find employment.
“We had some of the largest employers in Merseyside attending, making it an invaluable opportunity.”
Some of the well-known employers included: Crowne Plaza Liverpool, Securitas, Hermes, Living Ventures Group (inc Smugglers cove, Red Door & Gusto), Yodel, Diamond Nationwide, Payment Shield, Delta Taxis, Liverpool Football Club, Hermes, Smyths Toys, Uber, McDonalds, Cleanall, Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust, King Construction, NW Ambulance, Sovini Group and Hays Recruitment.
