Game, set and match to Crowe Clark Whitehill
Historic Manchester-based company Christy, official towel licensee for the Wimbledon Championships, which also supplies many of the UK’s top retailers such as John Lewis and House of Fraser, has chosen Crowe Clark Whitehill as its doubles partner.
The Manchester office of the national firm will be providing audit, tax and advisory services to Christy Towels, the Cheadle-based manufacturer of luxury bathroom and bedroom towels and bed linen.
The business was established in 1850 when Henry Christy returned to England from Constantinople with a sample of looped pile fabric, then new to the western world, and his brother Richard developed and patented a machine to produce terry towelling on a large scale.
Christy is now part of the US $3 billion Welspun Group, one of India’s fastest growing conglomerates.
Manish Bansal, finance director of Christy, said: “We turned to Crowe Clark Whitehill for ongoing advice in the UK because they provide excellent service and value.
“From the beginning of our discussions, they set about getting under the skin of the business and really understanding our strategy and culture.
“We have appointed Crowe Clark Whitehill as a key partner in our UK growth plans.”
Michael Jayson, managing partner of Crowe Clark Whitehill in Manchester, said: “Christy is a name with its roots in the north west but an increasingly global reach due to the its quality and commitment to customer service.
