Networking for Yorkshire school leaders launched in Leeds
Education law specialist Wrigleys Solicitors this week held the first meeting of its Schools Breakfast Club, a networking group aimed at school leaders.
Sue King, employment solicitor at Wrigleys explains the concept: “The Schools Breakfast Club is an opportunity for senior members of schools and colleges to meet over fresh coffee and pastries to discuss tricky issues affecting their organisations. This morning we discussed reputational issues including the consequences of parents posting playground gossip on Facebook and managing negative PR that can inevitably arise.”
Joint hosts of the session were Huddersfield based PR specialists, KC Communications. Katrina Cliffe, MD comments: “There are tried and tested strategies for managing negative PR. The trick is to have a crisis plan in place so that you can react quickly if something does happen.”
Delegates travelled from across Yorkshire and together formulated a programme for future topics including handling Freedom of Information requests, Data Protection issues, internal communications, dealing with special educational needs and exclusions and defending claims arising out of pupil exclusions.
The next events are due to be held in September, November and January. Any interested networkers should get in touch with Sue King at Wrigleys Solicitors.
