Digital business relocates to accommodate expansion plans
A Middlesbrough-based digital business that specialises in bespoke websites has completed a move to new, larger premises to meet its ambitious expansion plans.
Eighty8 Design’s new office in Boho Five is double the size of the businesses previous base in Boho One and it has provided the extra space needed to accommodate more staff.
Following the move into the new building, Eighty8 Design have already taken on three new staff and are looking to maximise its growth potential as demand for its services continue to increase.
Jonathan Waters and Shaun Buckle set up Eighty8 Design five years ago, after becoming friends while attending Cleveland College of Art and Design and then studying on the same graphic design course at Teesside University.
The company which includes Costa Coffee, mima, Middlesbrough & Teesside Philanthropic Foundation and CEO Sleepout as clients has its eye firmly focused on growing its client base locally and nationally.
Eighty8 Design’s Creative Director Jonathan Waters, said: “Right from the start we recognised the benefits of basing our business in the Boho Zone as it encouraged collaboration between digital and creative businesses as well as the opportunity to be nurtured by experienced mentors through the DigitalCity Business programme.
“As the business was growing we realised we needed to double our space and Boho Five felt like the perfect solution as we could move into an office that gave us everything we required whilst still keeping Eighty8 Design in the Boho Zone.”
Technical Director Shaun Buckle added: “We have experienced first hand the benefits of being part of the Tees Valley’s digital and creative cluster and the opportunities to network and collaborate have really paid off for us and that is why we were so keen to stay in it.
“Boho Five gives us a great environment and the capacity to grow our business and achieve our growth plans.”
Richard Dowson, Economic Development, Middlesbrough Council, said: “The Boho Zone was created to provide business space and support for digital and creative companies to grow and network, the fact that Eighty8 Design have been able to expand their business whilst staying in the zone is testament to the success of the cluster.”
Boho Five is the latest addition to Middlesbrough’s Boho Zone. Situated on the corner of Bridge Street East and Windward Way, it aims to build upon the success of the nearby Boho One, which opened in 2009. Both buildings operate in close partnership with DigitalCity Business, meaning tenants benefit from their expert advice, mentoring programme and sector support.
