Wrexham-based logistics firm’s turnover grows 100 per cent in 12 months with opening of third depot

A Wrexham-based logistics firm has experienced 100 per cent growth since expanding its operations and opening a third base 12 months ago.

Ningbo Palletised Distribution, which opened its Overton depot last year, has also recruited 12 new members of staff in the same period.

And the company, which offers a next day pallet delivery and collection service throughout the UK, has plans to increase turnover from ï¿¡5m to ï¿¡8m, increase its warehouse in Wrexham to 100,000sq ft., and add dedicated lorries and drivers to handle hazardous chemicals.

The milestone marks a strong rise for the logistics company formed in 1993. It won new depot of the year in 2015, UK best rural depot in 2015, and gold member status in 2016 as part of the UPN network. It also ranks in UPN’s top 10 best logistics firms in its weekly list.

Ningbo Palletised Distribution is also a member of Palletline, which counts the premier hauliers in the UK amongst its membership of 90 logistics firms.

In the Palletline network, Ningbo Palletised Distribution consistently ranks inside the top 15 for attributes including delivery performance and adhering to procedure eg ensuring all paper work is scanned with electronic signatures recorded.

The company’s managing director, Chris Stockton, from Chester, said: “It’s been a very strong two years for the distribution business, with us following a planned development route.

“We joined blue chip network Palletline and gained full shareholder member status to cover all Shropshire postcodes (SY) after excelling covering the very rural and large region.

“Our team has been brilliant and we’ve built a strong reputation in the industry and continue to go from strength to strength. Alongside our focus on service, the opening of our Overton depot has been central to our success over the last 12 months.”

Ningbo Palletised Distribution also has an additional 70,000 sq ft warehouse premises on the Wrexham Industrial Estate and in Shocklach, Malpas.

Chris added: “Our North Wales and Chester operations have also continued to grow as the economy picks up. In particular, the packaging and printing sectors are buoyant at the minute.”

Ningbo Palletised Distribution employs 33 members of staff and has a fleet of 20 lorries, 14 additional trailers and four vans. In addition to the UK, it delivers to all of Europe, and guarantees 48-hour service to Ireland.

It also offers businesses the option of pallet storage, pick and pack, and container unloading with a bespoke fully tracked and traced warehouse system.
