Local Club Strengthened by Funding From Winn Solicitors
Walker Bowling Club has secured funding from a national business in order to continue to compete as a team.
The donation comes as a lifeline for the club after local government cuts have resulted in a shortage of funds for maintenance and the general upkeep of the bowling green.
The club, who are an established member of the Northumberland County Bowling Association and have 25 players, has received a donation of £750 from nationwide accident management specialists Winn Solicitors.
The Club’s secretary, James Askwith, said: “We are beyond grateful for the ongoing support we have received from Winns over the last two years, and continue to be appreciative of their generous donations to the club.
“The money allows us to continue competing as a team, by helping us to purchase vital tools and materials and assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the bowling green itself.”
The club, who play in the Knight Cup and Clegg Cup leagues, attracts participants from as young as 15 years of age right through to regulars in their 70’s. The club have assisted in the development of numerous players who have gone on to achieve great success at county level and on to gain National recognition representing England.
Askwith continues: “It would be a huge blow to the local area if in the coming years we were unable to offer this opportunity to other future potential England representatives, so any donations we receive are always hugely appreciated.”
