Teesside law firm plans boost for local charities

Staff at Stockton-based Endeavour Partnership have taken on a Teesside challenge as they commit to raising thousands of pounds for the Prince’s Trust.

The team at the commercial law firm at Teesdale will be supporting Fairbridge, a local charity located close to the Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough backed by the Prince’s Trust, which provides training and educational opportunities for 16 to 25 year olds.

Endeavour Partnership now plans to raise around £10,000 for the charity in the coming year and Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Society have also committed to match-fund the amount raised.

All of the 50-strong team at Endeavour Partnership will be taking part in varied activities including sponsored walks, bake-offs, musical events and the creation of a special fundraising planner.

Earlier this month, 15 staff took part in the Transporter Bridge challenge in Middlesbrough, climbing the 210 steps to the top of the iconic structure, over 160 feet above sea level.

Endeavour Partnership also provides specialist legal assistance to charities thanks to its legal executive, Nick Dent, who specialises in working with such organisations.

Nick Dent is an active member of the Charity Law Association and advises voluntary and community sector organisations on aspects such as legal structures, governance, trustees and fundraising. Nick regularly delivers training seminars regionally and nationally at a range of events.

Staff at Endeavour Partnership also hold key roles at a range of local charities with managing partner, Paul Bury, a trustee of Butterwick Hospice and a director of Safe in Tees Valley, and Lee Bramley, partner and head of corporate recovery and insolvency, a trustee of the Finlay Cooper Fund since its inception in August 2006.

In addition, several partners at Endeavour Partnership have been patrons of the Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Fund since it was formed in 2011. The aim of the organisation is to raise and allocate funds to help community groups within Middlesbrough and across Teesside and have already supported a number of projects.

Associates Martin McKinnell and Catherine Devereux are responsible for the firm’s corporate and social responsibility and charitable giving.

Martin said: “As a leading company on Teesside, we are always committed to supporting local charities. Our team is always keen to get involved with fundraising activities or provide expert advice when it is needed as we have UK-leading experts in this field. Over the years we have worked with some amazing people and we really enjoy our community partnerships as it helps us to understand what is happening at the heart of our region.”

Catherine added: “The Transporter Bridge climb was amazing- although some members of the team don’t have a head for heights so had to overcome that as it’s quite high up there. The staff have been so enthusiastic in participating in everything from the smallest of events to the more challenging. Everyone is coming up with brilliant ideas and we’re looking forward to the coming year of fundraising activities.”

Andy Preston, founder and chair of the Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Fund, said: “Endeavour Partnership’s team provide invaluable support to a wide range of local charities. It’s brilliant to see the cross section of help and advice they offer, the activities they do and the organisations they support.”

Endeavour Partnership is a leading North East firm of solicitors who provide high quality advice on a range of business law matters including employment issues, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, litigation, commercial property and corporate recovery and insolvency.
