How the scheme will look among the Strand's existing buildings

Plans submitted for 395 new homes near Liverpool’s historic waterfront

Developers Patten Properties and Panacea Property Development have submitted plans for a 16-storey residential scheme overlooking Liverpool’s historic waterfront.

In a new joint venture, the companies are seeking consent to create offices, commercial space, a rooftop garden and 395 residential units along the Strand, at its junction with Red Cross Street.

If approved, the plans will see the existing four-storey Strand House office building demolished.

Architects Leach Rhodes Walker put together the scheme’s designs, which include elements and materials from nearby waterfront buildings Mann Island, One Park West and the Three Graces.

Neil Patten, managing director of both Patten and Panacea, said of the proposals: “It is vital that our design is sensitive to the heritage of Liverpool’s historic waterfront and is more suitable in terms of scale and appearance than the existing, and somewhat dated, office block currently on the site.

“This is a key transition point between historic buildings and more modern developments within the Albert Dock, Liverpool One and the City centre, so we’ve looked to tie these areas together.”

He added: “We received fantastic feedback from our recent public consultation and we’re hopeful that the planning committee will look favourably on the sensitively designed plans.”
