Funding boost for Morpeth Rangers

A group of Girlguiding Rangers from Morpeth have been given a £750 fundraising boost.

The grant, from Persimmon Homes North East, was awarded to the Morpeth Senior Section Rangers to help them gain valuable life skills through the purchase of new tents and equipment.

The funding was from the builder’s Community Champions initiative to support local good causes and charities throughout the year. The group meet at St George’s Church Hall in Morpeth every Tuesday.

Liz Kelly, unit leader, said: “We’re very excited about this funding and can’t thank Persimmon Homes enough. It is important to give our girls and young women the opportunities to work together and for others while developing their own skills and having fun too!”

Debbie Zaben, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes North East said the Community Champions initiative was a way of supporting people across every city, town and village where the company works.

She said: “We are so pleased to hand over this donation to the Morpeth Senior Section Rangers. It was clear just how important this group is to the local community and it seemed fitting we did what we could to support them.”

The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.

Debbie said: “We’ve made it really simple to apply for funding, and we’re urging groups and charities to apply for next month’s donation by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.”
