Haisthorpe House, Windermere

Lake District guesthouse acquired for £585k

Haisthorpe House, a guesthouse located in the heart of the Lake District National Park, has been swept off the market for £585k.

Real estate advisory firm Colliers International’s hotels and licensed property team arranged the sale of the Windermere business to husband and wife team Tim and Cathy Tritton, who are due to relocate from Kidderminster.

The site’s former owner, Diana Wilkinson, chose to sell the guesthouse after making the decision to retire from the hospitality sector.

Situated on Holly Road, in the centre of the town, Haisthorpe House comprises six letting bedrooms and a three-bedroom owners’ accommodation.

Haydn Spedding, an associate director at Colliers’ offices in Manchester, secured the sale on behalf of Ms Wilkinson.

He said: “The disposal of Haisthorpe House is one of a significant number of guest house sales in the lake District achieved by Colliers International in 2016.

“We believe that the outcome of the EU Referendum is unlikely to affect the tourism industry in the Lake District and Cumbria.”

He continued: “The industry has always enjoyed a robust presence having successfully steered its way through foot and mouth disease, flooding and the closure of the A591 and fuel crises.

“We are therefore confident that buyer interest in such high quality guest houses with solid accounts will continue to grow.”
