HSS Hire expands Old Trafford Refurbishment Centre
Centre will support more than 288 branches nationwide
18 additional jobs confirmed by the end of 2016
HSS Hire, the national tool and equipment hire company, has put the finishing touches to its brand new Refurbishment Centre in Old Trafford. The custom-built centre, which has been designed to maximise equipment safety and sustainability, has the capacity to overhaul more than 800 pieces of large equipment in 2016 and to create over 4,000 additional years of equipment life.
The Refurbishment Centre on Mosley Road in Trafford Park will provide 18 additional job roles by the end of 2016, allowing HSS to increase refurbishment capacity by 50% compared to the company’s previous site on Westinghouse Road.
The commercial unit, which opened at the end of 2015, covers 36,000 sq ft and can cater for large items of equipment including boom lifts, scissor lifts, power generators and lighting towers thanks to its 12.5 tonne Street crane.
John Gill, CEO for HSS Hire, comments: “Our Old Trafford Refurbishment Centre is a huge step forward for our business which allows us to grow our sustainability values. The hire industry is sustainable by its very nature thanks to the regular reuse of tools and equipment and our new refurbishment centre adds further strength to HSS’ contribution to the circular economy.
“For every piece of large equipment refurbished, we anticipate adding five years to its lifespan in the field. That means we have the capacity to add up to 4,000 years of equipment life each year.”
The centre is specially built to refurbish specific larger pieces of equipment in the Group’s hire fleet such as scissor lifts, generators and lighting towers, and will drive equipment safety and sustainability through engineering excellence.
HSS has over 12 branches in the Greater Manchester area which operate a click and collect service via HSS.com, guaranteeing local businesses next day availability on a huge range of items.
