Marketers Jaywing to partner with University of Leeds as it expands in the North

Yorkshire-based marketing agency Jaywing has announced a new partnership with the University of Leeds as it plots further expansion in the North.

The data science-led firm is to deliver a new MSc in Consumer Analytics and Marketing Strategy in conjunction with the University of Leeds Business School and the ESRC Consumer Data Research Centre as it looks to deepen its ties with academia.

Professor Matthew Robson will be Programme Director for the new MSc course, and was complimentary about the marketing firm’s specialisms.

He said, “Jaywing is an extremely impressive, forward thinking business with obvious ambition for the specialist fields it works in.

“The course we’ve designed combines academic rigour with real world thinking, much as Jaywing does itself, and provides a clear path to employment for its students.”

At the same time, the firm has also announced a pair of property deals that will expand its foothold in the North of England, and Yorkshire in particular, with a large extension of its Small Mill property in Leeds and a relocation of its headquarters to Sheffield city centre.

For the new Sheffield HQ, the derelict steel forgery Albert Works will be transformed in line with regeneration efforts in the area, including purpose-built, innovative collaborative workspaces and event spaces.

Combined, the two developments will see Jaywing increase its square footage in the region by 12,000 sq ft when they open in mid-2017 and will draw upon local expertise as part of the work.

Commenting on today’s announcement, Jaywing Chief Executive Officer UK & Australia, Rob Shaw, said: “These announcements come hot on the heels of the news of a solid organic growth performance in the UK last year, particularly in an industry that is not consistently sharing in UK growth success.”

He added: “With major transport links on our doorstep in both locations and deepening links with our local universities, we will increase our profile and attractiveness as a major creative and agency industries employer in the north, with all it has to offer as a place to live and work, culturally, historically and environmentally.

“One of the most rewarding aspects of these projects is that they involve local businesses and academia. Plus we’re very much in support of the ambitions of the Northern Powerhouse, with Leeds and Sheffield key to this.”
