North East architects reveal Darlington expansion
North East architecture practice Niven Architects has moved headquarters, transferring its operations to Business Central, the Darlington-based enterprise hub.
Moving from a Georgian townhouse in Coniscliffe Road, Darlington, the firm has has now taken up space at a 2,500sqft open plan design studio.
Niven has been responsible for working on North East projects such as Feethams, MC6, Middlesbrough College’s sixth form centre, Cleveland College of Art and Design and St Teresa’s Hospice in-patient unit, Darlington.
Director Simon Crowe explained the move. He said: “Our Coniscliffe Road premises have served us well for many years but we require working practices which allow us to further improve the collaborative work for which we have become renowned.”
Fellow director Peter Hodges added: “The latest industry requirements mean that we need to react quickly and creatively.
“You can only do that by being on the same floor, in a healthy environment, that allows us to bounce around ideas and share experiences.
“It will boost communications and be a lot more convenient. It allows us to identify issues and developments and create the very best design solutions.”
