Doncaster dental practice to expand following Yorkshire Bank support

The new owners of Edlington Dental Practice have outlined their vision for the Doncaster-based dentists with expansion and job creation on the cards.

Local dentists Mo Sheikh and Andrew Harrison, who acquired the practice at the start of the year after co-owner Ian Kellam retired, have overseen a raft of new developments at the dentists as they plot their next moves.

Along with an investment in new software to improve the dental practice’s appointment booking system, Edlington has also embarked on a preventative programme working closely with local schools and midwives.

After forming Edlington Care Ltd, the pair, along with a third partner, took over the running of the practice after receiving support from Yorkshire Bank’s South Yorkshire Customer Banking Centre, sealing the deal with relationship manager Richard Boor.

Commenting on their motivations in acquiring the health practice, Mo said: “When Andrew and I heard about Edlington we immediately felt it was an opportunity we wanted to explore. The practice is located in a high needs area and we believed that with our experience we could make a difference to the oral health of the local community.

“Since we got involved, we have modernised the way the practice is run and created a new focus on preventative dentistry.

“Yorkshire Bank has been very supportive of our plans to develop the business. The main reason we chose Yorkshire Bank as our funding partner was because Richard, our relationship manager, demonstrated a real understanding of the industry and what we want to achieve.”

Mo and Andrew have already added a new surgery to the premises and now plan to take on two more dentists by September this year to add to its team of three registered dental surgeons, a part-time hygienist and four registered dental nurses.

Derek Breingan, Head of Healthcare at Yorkshire Bank, was complimentary about Edlington’s ‘ambitious’ growth plans and ‘dynamic management team’.

He added: “We welcome them to Yorkshire Bank and we look forward to working in partnership with them as they develop the practice. Yorkshire Bank is committed to supporting the growth aspirations of well managed healthcare businesses with strong growth plans.”
