International chemical company acquires new lab space in Manchester’s Hexagon Tower
Polymers firm Lubrizol Advanced Materials has acquired new laboratory space at Hexagon Tower in Manchester.
The global chemical company has snapped up 4,533 sq ft of additional lab space at its North West HQ, increasing its total footprint at the vertical science park to more than 29,000 sq ft.
The expansion will allow Lubrizol to carry out technical application testing of new chemicals in textiles for home furnishings and sportswear, in addition to digital inks used in industrial printing systems for textiles and ceramics.
Lubrizol’s global business director, Peter Bloyce, said: “It’s great to be able to expand our footprint at the Hexagon Tower building.
“It’s an ideal location for us to develop our new lab with a focus on supporting the digital ink jet chemicals market.”
He added: “Our new facility provides state of the art application testing in the digital ink market and the new lab will support global sales of our product range in this segment.”
Hexagon Tower’s facilities manager, Stewart Needham, commented: “We’re very pleased to see one of our high value tenants grow within the tower.
“Their expansion highlights the strength in the UK science sector and its exports.”
Hexagon Tower, which changed hands earlier this year in a deal worth £95m, comprises 168,376 sq ft of laboratory and office space, with its 14 tenants generating an annual rent of over £1.5m.
