Young girl receives donation for life-changing surgery

A seven year-old girl with cerebral palsy has been gifted £1,000 towards a life-changing operation.

Chloe, who lives with her foster family in Abbeymead, received the cash donation from Persimmon Homes Severn Valley; as part of the builder’s Community Champions scheme.

In 2015, Chloe was promised a life-changing operation to help her walk and live a normal life on the NHS. However, she was heartbreakingly let down when she was told the operation could no longer be funded.

Now, the Superhero Foundation – a Gloucester-based charity is attempting to raise the £50,000 needed for a private operation and rehabilitation which could change Chloe’s life by allowing her to walk independently.

Chloe’s foster mum, Louise Ellis, said: “We can’t thank Persimmon Homes enough for this very generous donation. It takes us one step closer to the £50,000 we so desperately need.

“Chloe just doesn’t stop! She does ballet, swimming and is a member of brownies. She is an inspiration to me and our family and deserves to have more independence and a life of her own.

“We have many plans to further raise funds and anything people can donate will make such a difference.”

Nicola Hill, sales and marketing director of Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “We’re so pleased to present Chloe and her family with this donation. She is such a brave girl who has faced a lot of difficulties and we couldn’t be more honoured to help them.
