Hendy Kia to support Southern Vipers
Hampshire-based Hendy Group has strengthened its ties with the south’s sporting community with news that Hendy Kia will sponsor the Southern Vipers in the first Kia Women’s Super League.
Based at the Ageas Bowl in Hampshire, the Southern Vipers are led by England Captain Charlotte Edwards with the team including three England players, three overseas players, and three England Women’s Academy players.
Hendy Group’s chief executive Paul Hendy said the company was delighted to be supporting the team at such an exciting time for the sport.
“We have a long association with supporting cricket in the south and we’re thrilled to be involved at the start of this brand new era in cricket,’’ said Paul. “The Kia Super League has been set up to inspire more women and girls play cricket at all levels and that is something we are pleased to support.”
Southern Vipers general manager, Bobby Parks said: “We are delighted that the Hendy Group has extended its long standing relationship with Hampshire Cricket by using its Hendy Kia franchise to support our Southern Vipers team in the Kia Super League. This is a natural fit, in so many ways and we look forward to working with them as this exciting new competition develops.”
The Women’s Cricket Super League kicks off this weekend (July 31) at the Ageas Bowl with the Twenty20 competition featuring six teams from around the country, 15 group matches and a finals day at the end of August.
