Funding boost for community youth group
An organisation working to enhance the lives of local youngsters is celebrating after being awarded a national housebuilder’s funding boost.
Double R Arts has been awarded £900 through Persimmon Homes Lancashire’s Community Champions scheme.
Diane Finch, sales director for Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “Our national match-funding programme seeks to support local groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment across the region.
“We are proud to be supporting the fundraising efforts of this excellent group, who are working hard to make a real difference to the community.”
Double R Arts is a South Ribble youth organisation that operates weekly theatre sessions for young people in the community, helping to develop their confidence, interpersonal and team-work skills.
Beth Blenkinship, from the group, said: “The group works with children and young people aged between seven -25 each week through five different sessions.
“These sessions have a positive impact on young people in the community, helping them to become more positive and believe in their own abilities.”
Persimmon Homes’ donation will help implement the group’s The 3 C’s project, exploring how the performing arts can encompass the group’s three core values: care, co-operation and consideration.
Beth added: “We have worked hard to raise funds to ensure successful running of the youth theatre, and we are very grateful to Persimmon Homes Lancashire. This donation will go a long way, allowing us to continue this project on throughout the summer.”
