Unwritten Creative in charity Dragon Boat race
Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books, is swapping pages for paddles later this month to raise essential funds to enhance the visitor experience for children with special educational needs and disabilities. A crew of 16 Seven Stories paddlers will take part in the second-annual Dragon Boat race at Hetton Lyons Country Park on Sunday 31 July 2016.
Braving the 250-metre course will be staff from the charity joined by its Chief Executive Kate Edwards and representatives from its corporate partners, First Class Supply and Unwritten Creative.
Kate Edwards, Chief Executive at Seven Stories said: “I’m really excited to be joining our generous Dragon Boat sponsors, First Class Supply and Unwritten Creative, along with the fantastic Seven Stories team to battle the waves towards the grand final. We hope that this exciting challenge will attract donations from our many supporters, helping us to raise funds to support our work with children and young people with special educational needs so that they are inspired to step into the wonderful world of stories at Seven Stories.”
Lisa Eaton, Director at Unwritten, said: “Having worked with the team at Seven Stories for almost 10 years, we continue to support them in any way we can, which includes taking to the water in a Dragon Boat, if it will help them raise much needed funds to enhance the visitor experience. We’re hugely proud to have such a wonderful and unique Centre in the region and to be part of the team responsible for marketing Seven Stories.”
First Class Supply’s Director, Steph Boulton added: “First Class Supply are delighted to be a sponsor of our friends and partners at Seven Stories, in order to raise much needed funds to purchase specialist sensory equipment to help young visitors to Seven Stories. Another fantastic initiative – good luck Team Seven Stories!”
