Higgs & Sons’ fundraising pays dividends for Scope
A holiday in Portugal, a trip in an Aston Martin DB9 and a ‘Come Dine With Me’ gourmet experience were just some of the charity auction bids that helped Higgs & Sons raise more than £2700 for charity.
The Higgs Promise Auction was just one of the events the firm organised to support the charity Scope. “We held several events in support of Scope,” comments Hannah Nicholls, a solicitor in the family team who helped to organise the auction.
“As well as a pancake sale we also held a dress down day with people encouraged to wear a hat at work. The Promise Auction which ran on-line over several weeks, saw colleagues make some generous bids for the incredible lots on offer.”
Alongside the holiday and super car experience, amongst the more unique bids on offer were a three-hour roller skating lesson, a personal shopper for the afternoon and the chance to have three lawyers come and make over your garden.
Following the auction, Higgs’ rounded off its fundraising activities by taking over the Stourbridge Scope shop for the day, donating items and encouraging local shoppers to come and take advantage of the bargains on offer.
“It has been fantastic being able to organise these activities for Scope. As well as fundraising, they have enabled us to help raise the profile of the charity and the important work they do throughout the Black Country,” comments Claire Langford, a Partner in Higgs’ Clinical Negligence department.
“From my own experience working with families whose children have been affected by cerebral palsy, we understand the vital service Scope provides. We work closely with them to provide support and information to families who may be unsure or anxious following a diagnosis.
“Working jointly in this way enables families to see that receiving a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, or indeed any other disability does not mean their children cannot lead extremely rewarding and fulfilling lives.”
