Yorkshire’s construction and infrastructure sectors urged to seek export trade

Two of the region’s exporters, Achtis Group and Witt UK, are to set to help promote the Government’s Exporting is GREAT initiative in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The two companies will feature as part of a month-long initiative to highlight a host of export opportunities for Yorkshire’s construction and infrastructure businesses.

Throughout August 2016, the initiative is designed to help businesses in construction and related sectors identify and secure new contracts overseas.

Exporting is GREAT Yorkshire and the Humber is already seeing an upward trend in the exporting of construction services and products with construction businesses, reporting a 122% year-on-year rise in new overseas deals in 2016, a near doubling of a 67% increase in 2015.

Businesses from the region have won and are exploring potential contracts in Western Europe, the Middle East, North America, Eastern Europe, Africa, Australasia, South East Asia and Latin America.

Following a visit to Leeds this year by the British ambassador to promote opportunities in Sweden, Exporting is GREAT is making businesses aware of a construction/infrastructure programme throughout Sweden, including developing a new high speed rail system featuring about 150 bridges.

As part of the initiative, Exporting is GREAT in Yorkshire and the Humber is directing construction sector companies to almost 300 export opportunities on the website of the Government initiative.
