ANS takes on record number of apprentices
Cloud services provider ANS Group is continuing to invest in local talent by taking on a record number of apprentices this year.
The 15 new recruits will be given a kick-start to their career in IT at the ANS Academy, located at Manchester Science Park. Here, the apprentices will progress through their managed IT services training over three years, gaining valuable industry-led qualifications along the way.
As well as joining a family of 14 current apprentices on arrival, the newcomers will receive mentoring from IT experts throughout their time at the Academy, which has been granted centre recognition by leading qualifications brand Pearson Education.
In addition to the Academy, earlier this year ANS supported 48 stricken apprentices and guaranteed that all Level 3 apprentices finish their training after the collapse of digital firm Bright Futures.
James O’Toole, ANS apprentice who joined the ANS Academy two weeks after completing secondary school, said: “I’ve progressed through the business and onto a structured career path that will lead me to become a service manager. I received the Managed Services Rising Star award and everyday I learn from my peers, progressing at an accelerated rate. I simply wouldn’t be where I am today without the Academy.”
Paul Shannon, COO at ANS, added: “We are committed to investing in talented young people. Our business is part of our community and it is important that we are able to attract and retain talent from the region.
“Not only that, but our apprenticeship scheme and the Academy is designed to help address the skills gap in the IT sector and it is something that we are confident will go from strength to strength.”
