MedaPhor acquires University College London ultrasound simulation firm for £3m
Cardiff-based MedaPhor, a provider of ultrasound skills training simulators, has announced that it has acquired Inventive Medical Limited in an eight-figure deal.
The firm, which has grown out of research at University College London Hospital, is most well-known for its cardio ultrasound simulation products which operate under its HealthWorks brand.
HealthWorks, which is currently wholly owned by University College London Hospitals Charity, allows medical practitioners to learn through interactive content, including practising ultrasound on manikin-based simulators.
For a total consideration of £3m, payable in shares, the deal will allow the two firms to work even more closely together after they began collaborating in June last year.
Commenting on the benefits of the deal, Stuart Gall, Chief Executive Officer of MedaPhor, said: “Having worked closely together for a year, both teams have recognised the opportunities that a closer alliance will bring, not just in combining sales and reseller networks and cross-selling across our customer base, but by offering an integrated and complementary solution.
“Increasingly, medical simulation centres are requesting full torso ultrasound training and we believe the coming together of our two technologies paves the way for this to become a reality for clinicians seeking to acquire the highest levels of competence in ultrasound practice.”
