Azimo to offer ‘industry first’ money transfer integration with Facebook Messenger

Users of Azimo’s money transfer service can now utilise Facebook Messenger as a means to transfer money thanks to ‘industry first’ functionality.

The London-based FinTech firm, which allows users to send money from their mobile devices, announced the new functionality today which it claims will make it even easier for people to send and receive money using the Azimo app.

As part of the newly-introduced integration, senders and receivers can be connected through their Facebook friend list, allowing them to exchange details instantly and connect to the tech firm’s app to make a transfer.

Azimo claims the new functionality will help remedy the issue of mistyped payment details and speed up the payment process for users thanks to Messenger’s instantaneous message exchange.

Facebook’s pan-global appeal and user base in the billions means the move also aligns with the money transfer firm’s targeting of migrant workers sending remittance payments back home.

Michael Kent, Chief Executive Officer at Azimo said: “Sending money should be as easy as adding a friend on Facebook.

“With 250 million migrants around the world sending over $600 million dollars home every year to family, friends or businesses, the new feature creates an unprecedented shared ownership, putting the receiver in as much control as the sender.”

Founded in 2012, Azimo has become one of the biggest players in the burgeoning mobile-focused money transfer sector, having received significant backing from Japanese retail giant Rakuten back in May.
