Wirral-based funeral business invests in new Jaguar hearse
Charles Stephens, the Wirral-based funeral firm, has announced a new investment to coincide with its 120th anniversary.
The company purchased a hand-built, glass-roofed Jaguar Hearse to bolster its existing fleet of Jaguar limousines and hearses.
Charles Stephens, which expanded earlier this year with a new branch in West Kirby, said the hearse will be “the first of its kind” on the Wirral and is due for delivery this autumn.
The investment follows the completion of a project to refit the firm’s offices in Heswall and Bromborough. Charles Stephens’ remaining branches in Neston, Claughton and Rock Ferry will undergo refurbishment works over the coming months.
Charles Stephens’ managing director, Gemma Stephens, said: “I’m extremely proud of our company’s history of providing the people of the Wirral with a dignified funeral.
“Our staff are committed to the traditions of providing the very best funeral services while, at the same time, ensuring we meet the requirements of today’s families.”
She added: “Our remaining branches will all be refurbished over the next 18 months as we move towards a consistent brand identity across the Wirral.”
Established in 1896 by Charles Stephens, in 1993 the company merged with fellow Wirral-based funeral director business Henry Norman.
Gemma assumed the role of MD after her father Jeremy Stephens stepped down six years ago. Jeremy now serves the business as a senior consultant.
