New H&S training academy for Redcar
A TEESSIDE college has announced it will open the North East’s first health and safety training academy this summer to unlock the aspirations of employers and students in the region.
Redcar & Cleveland College will launch the academy in September to deliver high-quality training and relevant hands-on experience for people who aspire to work in the health and safety industry.
Colin Willis, lead tutor in health and safety, along with a dedicated team of practitioners, will provide an extensive range of accredited courses, including the NEBOSH Level 3 International General Certificate and the flagship NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma.
The academy, which opens on Monday, 5 September, will also offer bespoke health and safety courses at foundation level, in conjunction with employers across the region.
Unique to the academy will be the opportunity for employers to draw on the experience that the team have acquired with SABIC UK at Wilton International in delivering a Competence Assurance programme. This programme includes policy development, competence assessor training and mentoring and on-going support. All courses are designed to be flexible enough to meet the needs of any organisation which intends to monitor the competence of their employees.
Colin, said: “I’m thrilled the college is taking strides to provide specialist health and safety provision in the North East education market. We are always looking for new opportunities to expand our service to our students. Drawing upon our reputation, expertise and facilities we look forward to assisting them to raise competence in health and safety management in their workplace.
“The college has for many years boasted an on-demand course portfolio but health and safety courses were integrated with other courses and this specialist capacity was often lost in the college offering.
“We have evolved to formalise the courses under a training academy banner with a dedicated team of experts to offer a unique service to both employers and students looking to work in the field.
Students interested in enrolling on a health and safety course are advised to sign up during enrolment week 25 August to 2 September, if not before.
