Winchester City FC scores a winning new partnership

Winchester City FC has made a brand new signing for the forthcoming season in the form of sponsor Trethowans.

The law firm has thrown its support behind the club, coming on board as an official corporate sponsor for the 2016-17 season. The partnership comes as both organisations celebrate significant milestones, with Winchester City FC is celebrating its 125th anniversary and Trethowans marking its 150th year.

Chris Whiteley, managing partner at Trethowans, said: “As part of our anniversary celebrations we have set ourselves a challenge to undertake 150 good deeds in the community and we are delighted to support Winchester City FC as part of that mission. The team brings enjoyment not just to the players but the wider community and we will be rooting for a successful season for Winchester City FC.”

Trethowans kicked off its support for the football team by acting as match day sponsor for the opening home game of the season on Wednesday (August 10). The hotly-fought match drew a crowd of more than 500 as Winchester City FC beat Salisbury FC 4-2.

Chairman Paul Murray said: “Having the support of local businesses is important to us as a club and we are thrilled to have Trethowans on board. We are ready and raring to break into the new season and will be giving every match our all in a bid to make our sponsors proud.”

Trethowans’ sponsorship of Winchester City FC strengthens its links with the cathedral city. The law firm has a local office in Southgate Street and as well as offices in Salisbury, Southampton and Poole and a base in London.
