After Pokemon Go's roaring success, Pokemon Company looking to double its UK presence

Pokemon Company International, which operates and manages the Pokemon brand outside of the Far East, is looking to double its footprint in the UK after its Pokemon Go app has taken the world by storm.

The firm, which currently occupies a sub-10,000 sq ft space at Chiswick Park in west London, is rumoured to be on the hunt for a new London base in a move that will more than double its current UK footprint.

According to Property Week, the Pokemon Company has appointed Frost Meadowcroft, who are based in Hammersmith, to sniff out any potential opportunities for a new west London HQ totalling around the 25,000 sq ft mark.

Founded in 1998 to handle licensing rights for the Pokemon brand during its initial burst of popularity in the late 90s, the release of Niantic Lab’s Pokemon Go augmented reality app this year has propelled Pokemon back into the global consciousness and already raised revenues of around £190m.

The craze still shows no signs of abating, with the app still the number 1 most downloaded app on the Google Play Store despite already having been downloaded over 100m on Android alone.
