New premises offers complete solution for landlords
Sibling business partners Nick Evans and Sharon Wheatley, joint owners of AFS Wealth Management and Applied Lets, have relocated to new premises at Centurion House in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.
The move to their new West Street office, in the centre of Newcastle, has been driven by the need for more space, following the expansion of the two companies, which has increased the workforce to a team of eight.
AFS Wealth Management, headed up by Nick Evans, is a financial services company and an associate partner practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management. In addition to providing quality advice on many aspects of wealth management, AFS also has a dedicated mortgage team. Its ‘sister’ company, run by Sharon Wheatley, is a residential lettings agency, providing quality accommodation around the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent area.
“For prospective landlords, having both a lettings agent and a mortgage adviser under the same roof is very convenient,” explained Wheatley. “Our support is tailored to the needs of the landlord, but if they wish we can help them through the entire process; from locating the right property and securing the best buy-to-let mortgage, to finding a tenant and managing the tenancy.
“We only list quality accommodation – if we wouldn’t live in the property then we don’t list it. Landlords new to buy-to-let often like us to attend viewings to support them in the purchase of their new property and we’re always happy to offer advice.”
The mortgage team at AFS Wealth Management is headed up by mortgage adviser Steve Elphinstone, who previously worked for Lloyds Bank for almost 40 years, where he undertook a number of roles, including community relationship manager, supporting small businesses across North Staffordshire and South Cheshire.
“We’re thrilled to have someone of Steve’s calibre as part of our team,” said Evans, “he has excellent knowledge of the local area and market conditions, and with his expertise he’s perfectly placed to support our clients.
“Steve’s specialism is the support of small businesses, making use of his experience with the business community to support companies to develop and grow. He can offer advice to clients on residential, commercial and buy-to-let mortgages.”
Elphinstone added: “I’ve got a good understanding of the challenges faced by sole traders and company directors so I can offer advice if they’re hoping to invest in their business by purchasing premises. But it means I can also be on hand to support them with their home loan, if they want to buy a new house or remortgage.”
In addition to the move to the new office, Applied Lets has also launched a brand new website, www.appliedlets.co.uk, which includes a property search function, for those people looking for a rental property in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent area.
