Peel completes Liverpool’s biggest speculative development of the decade

Peel Logistics, a joint venture between investment company Peel Land & Property Group and financial services firm Macquarie Capital, has completed work on a 175,000 sq ft industrial and logistics centre in Merseyside.

L175, located at Liverpool International Business Park, is the city’s biggest speculative development of the last 10 years.

As the only Grade-A unit in excess of 100,000 sq ft within a 10-mile radius of automaker Jaguar Land Rover’s Halewood operations, Peel is expecting the scheme to deliver “significant” savings for JLR supply chain companies that wish to relocate to the business park.

Peel Logistics’ development director, Matt Fitton, said: “The completion of L175 within budget and on schedule is another significant milestone for Peel Logistics as it continues to build a reputation as a developer of high quality warehousing facilities.

“The speculative development is particularly attractive to the automotive sector with Jaguar Land Rover situated just five minutes away at Halewood.”

Further, Peel’s new deepwater container terminal Liverpool2 and its potential to act as a “catalyst for increased warehousing demand in the region”, according to Mr Fitton, makes L175 an “excellent opportunity for occupiers seeking to expand or build a new presence in the North West”.

L175 was constructed by building firm Eric Wright, while AEW Architects delivered designs.

AEW’s managing director, Steve Burne, commented: “We have worked with the supply chain and the construction team to create a functional logistics facility meeting institutional standards with the flexibility to accommodate potential occupier requirements.”
