Youngster’s post- surgery care fund given cash boost

A Wiltshire- based family has been awarded a £1,000 donation towards intensive surgery aftercare for their youngest daughter.

Persimmon Homes Wessex has gifted a £1,000 donation to ‘Kitty’s Wish to Walk’: a fundraising group for Kitty-Boo Cox’s post- operational therapy. Diagnosed at 13 months with Cerebral Palsy, Kitty has undergone SDR, a drastic surgical procedure that is her only chance of walking unaided.

For the surgery to now be effective, Kitty needs intense physiotherapy which, unlike the operation, is not offered by the NHS. Her mother, Claire Winks, applied for the funding through the Persimmon Community Champions initiative. It is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.

Claire said: “We are so grateful for all of the money donated. The physical therapy is making such a huge difference to Kitty’s life and it would not be possible without the generosity of strangers.”

“So far I have managed to raise around £2,800 which has been spent on private physiotherapy, specialist clinics and orthopaedics. Persimmon’s donation will go a long way in paying for these essential treatments.”
