Debut restaurant from TV cook Ravinder Bhogal to open in Marylebone
TV cook and food writer Ravinder Bhogal is set to open her debut restaurant Jikoni in Marylebone next month, just off Marylebone High Street.
The new 1,733 sq ft venue on Blandford Street, which the cook has taken on a 25 year lease, includes a 771 sq ft ground floor and a 962 sq ft basement, and is due to open in September.
The TV cook, who rose to fame on Gordon Ramsay’s The F Word, is to draw on her mixed heritage and travels, combining influences and flavours from Britain, East Africa, the Middle East and Asia, with a menu offering a range of snacks, small plates, big plates and desserts.
Ravinder said that she was looking forward to being a part of the strong culinary scene in the area, and that the new site was a logical step at residencies at restaurants along the street.
She commented: “We are looking forward to being part of the Marylebone neighbourhood – so many restaurateurs I respect a great deal have been here for years.
“I have had residencies at both Trishna and Carousel on Blandford Street and could not have imagined that one day I would be opening my own restaurant amongst them.
“I am so excited to welcome guests to Jikoni and what I hope will just be an extension of my home and kitchen.”
Guy Marks at restaurant and leisure agent Restaurant Property advised on the deal, with Nash Bond also involved.
