Diamond Group sparkles as move spurs job hunt
The Let’s Grow Regional Growth Fund continues to help north east businesses evolve through its capital investment scheme with a Tyneside based business technology solutions provider the latest to benefit.
Diamond Group is reaping the rewards of regional funding after achieving record growth, turnover and an increase in staff numbers.
Gateshead based Diamond is expecting to create 21 new positions over the next five years in the IT, reprographics and telecoms sectors after its move from East Boldon to its new home on Kingsway North, Team Valley - especially welcome news as the region retains its unwanted status of highest unemployment numbers in the UK.
The switch is in part down to Diamond’s impressive turnover figures, which rose significantly over a two-year span to the end of the 2015 tax year, and saw the Diamond team and services outgrow their previous East Boldon offices.
Managing Director John Burns says it is a testament to the hard work shown by the staff since he started the business back in 1992.
“From our humble beginnings as a copier sales and service business back in the early 90’s, we’ve grown very fast. It’s down to every one of the staff who works for Diamond. No matter what their role in the company, each one of them has given 100% and it’s thanks to them that we are in the position we are today.”
The company originally operated as Diamond Business Systems until 2006 when Diamond IT was launched. That was soon followed by Diamond Communications in 2009 and Diamond Asset Finance in 2011.
The expansion enabled the firm to make a turnover of £2m through 2016 from £90,000 in its first year of business. The move onto Team Valley signalled further growth, with the planned new jobs being created and the region is also set to benefit.
John Burns, Group Managing Director continued:“It’s great to be able to give back to the area. Being in a position to increase business is obviously fantastic but to give people a chance of employment and promotion is very special. So the move into Diamond House makes a lot of sense both as a business and an employer.”
Diamond Group is now based at Diamond House, Kingsway North, Team Valley, Gateshead, NE11 0JH.
The four divisions of the Diamond Group each have their own directors and since the growth of the business have promoted Service Manager, Ray Blenkinsop, to Service Director, where he will oversee all aspects of servicing within the group. The appointment of a Sales Director is also imminent.
