Free Public WiFi by KBR at Tall Ships
North East WiFi specialists, KBR are set to provide WiFi to 150,000 visitors at the North Sea Tall Ships Regatta in Blyth.
This summer, Birtley based WiFi supplier KBR is to provide 6 kilometers of high speed public access WiFi coverage for visitors to this world class event on behalf of Northumberland County Council. The WiFi coverage will be from the town centre, around the docks, along the Port of Blyth, through Ridley Park and all the way up to the famous beach huts at Blyth South Beach. As part of the project KBR will also be providing WiFi in areas exclusively for the event’s participants.
With 150,000 people expected to attend The Tall Ships four day event, visitors can expect to enjoy public access WiFi at all the main public entertainment areas including stage performers, fun fairs, street theatre, sand sculptures and much more.
Gareth Tomlin, KBR’s Technical Director said:
“We are experts in providing WiFi services to large public events such as this. In September we will again be providing event WiFi for the 3rd year running to The Tour of Britain cycle race having just recently completed the Women’s Tour cycle race in June and wireless broadband services to The Mouth of Tyne music festival this July.”
“Providing WiFi to large scale events such as this can be challenging but it is a challenge we always rise to and enjoy. Deploying a WiFi network to thousands of spectators is something our Technical Engineers always deliver thanks to our pedigree in WiFi technology. It gives us the opportunity to demonstrate the benefit of our 17 years of experience and expertise in WiFi solutions.”
Dave McDonnell, Network and Communications Manager at Northumberland County Council said:
“All of the solutions KBR have supplied to the council for over 13 years now have been fit for purpose, cutting edge and provided exactly the features we required. They tick all of the health and safety boxes and we have absolute confidence in their ability to carry out installations safely and effectively.”
Katie Winter, Network Support Officer at Northumberland County Council said:
“KBR are very easy to work with. When we present them with a requirement they come back to us with a number of different solutions. We then sit down with them to agree the best way forward. Since KBR are always so willing to find a solution to match our needs we have always come up trumps. It has been brilliant!”
The Blyth Regatta will be taking place from Friday August 26th to Monday August 29th. Up to 30 of the largest and most spectacular Tall Ships in the world will sail into Blyth for a fantastic four day festival. For further information about The Blyth Regatta visit http://www.tallshipsblyth2016.com
