Jackson Fire & Security secures servicing deal on its doorstep
A Flintshire firm is celebrating winning a prestigious council contract on its home turf.
Jackson Fire & Security has been appointed by Flintshire County Council to service and provide corrective call-outs for fire alarms and emergency lighting across 250 public buildings.
It is the first time since the firm’s foundation in Mynydd Isa in 1991 that it has won such a contract from its local authority.
Clwyd Theatr Cymru, Hawarden Records Office and Deeside Youth Club are among the buildings whose systems are maintained under the three-year deal.
Jackson Fire & Security engineers also service fire alarms and emergency lighting in dozens of primary and high schools, as well as sports centres, libraries and social housing across the county.
The contract is worth £43,000 over three years and covers pre-planned maintenance servicing. Any corrective call-outs will also be attended by Jackson engineers.
From modest beginnings located in the garden shed behind the home of its founder and managing director, Steve Jackson, the company has grown to employ 35 and with a stand-alone head office in Bromfield Industrial Estate, Mold.
It now has branches in Warrington, Wirral, Cambridge and Glasgow. New branches will open in Liverpool and Leeds in September.
Steve Jackson said: “We’ve been contracted in the past to local authorities in other parts of North Wales and the North West.
“It’s the first time we’ve been appointed in Flintshire. It’s especially rewarding to be appointed to look after fire alarm services in buildings that our engineers and their families know and use during the course of their daily lives.”
Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for the Environment, Councillor Bernie Attridge, said:
“We welcome this new contract with local company Jackson Fire & Security.
It is important to us that our public buildings are secure and well-maintained for our staff and residents alike.
“We look forward to a successful partnership over the next three years.”
In addition to fire extinguisher maintenance and fire alarm installation, Jackson Fire & Security also specialises in access control and CCTV systems for businesses.
The company has built a reputation for quality, reliability and service, and is a NSI and Siemens’ gold-accredited partner for fire and security systems.
