The polygon will be located opposite the Apollo Theatre

Construction underway on £4m polygon building in Manchester

Regeneration firm Galliford Try Partnerships North West has started construction work on the polygon – the next multi-million pound phase of Manchester’s New Brunswick development.

The £4m polygon, located opposite the Apollo Theatre, will comprise a mix of commercial and residential space across three storeys.

The site’s ground floor will include a new housing management office and four retail units for rent, while floors one and two will offer 18 two-bedroom apartments for council rent.

Outside, the polygon will feature a private parking court and landscaped areas.

Houses located on the site have now been demolished and residents rehoused locally.

The polygon forms part of the wider £100m plans to transform the Brunswick area of Manchester. S4B, which works in partnership with Manchester City Council, is leading the regeneration efforts.

The plans combine the construction of new homes with the refurbishment of existing council properties and the delivery of road and open space improvements.

To date, Galliford Try has created 61 open-market properties and 41 council-owned homes.

Craig Nemeth, Galliford Try’s regeneration manager, said: “We are very pleased to have started work on site at the polygon.

“This is another key milestone in the development and a significant injection of investment into the Brunswick area.”

He added: “It will not only provide a great opportunity to bring in more new homes to the scheme but the retail units and new housing office will also be a valuable addition to the community.”

Manchester City Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Bernard Priest, commented: “It’s been a pleasure to see the continuing transformation of the Brunswick area.

“The potential of the neighbourhood is being unlocked and a community created in what must be the next area of choice, so close to the city centre.”
