WHN tees up funds for Rossendale Hospice

Lancashire-based law firm Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors has bolstered the charity coffers of Rossendale Hospice after taking part in a duo of fundraising initiatives.

The firm, which has offices across Lancashire in locations including Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Blackburn and Bury, racked up £6,300 for the hospice from its annual golf day.

Now in its ninth year, the 18-hole competition was the most successful to date, with 21 teams taking part in the event held at Rossendale Golf Club. Participants included staff from Barclays, Pierce Accountants, PM&M Accountants and Rock Healthcare.

As Patrons of Rossendale Hospice, WHN has thrown its weight behind the charity for nine years and regularly racks up funds via a number of popular initiatives. It’s golf day has raised £28,347 over the past five years alone.

WHN also pledged its support by waiving its will-writing fees in exchange for a donation to the charity as part of Make a Will Fortnight. This generated an additional £900, which has been handed over to the hospice.

“As a firm committed to its community, we’re extremely proud to extend a hand and support the hospice. Charity begins at home so our events such as the golf day really rally up individuals and businesses in the local community to raise funds for a worthy cause.

“Rossendale Hospice is our principal charity and we look forward to supporting the hospice for many more years to come.”

Irene Smith, chief executive officer at Rossendale Hospice, added: “We are so grateful to WHN for organising the golf day as well as supporting our own events. As you can imagine it isn’t a simple task for a small charity to raise the money it requires to keep afloat, but with WHN’s help our job is made much easier.”
