Local housebuilder supports community festival!

7 September 2016: Leading local housebuilder, Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, supported the recent volunteer-run MethleyFest held in the village, close to its upcoming St Oswald’s View development, with a sponsorship of £1,000.

The festival, which took place on Sunday 28th August, is a community event in the style of a village fete, with a dog show, a tea tent run by the village café, inflatables, including an assault course, live music, a wide range of food including specials from Methley’s gastropub, The Boundary House and a bar run by the nearby pub, The Commercial. Run entirely with volunteered support from local individuals, groups and businesses, the £1,000 donation from Barratt Homes enabled MethleyFest organisers to pay most of the fixed costs of the event up front, providing 2,500 people with free admission to the festival.

Nicki Jefferson, Sales Manager at Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, commented:

“We’re really glad to have been able to support MethleyFest this year – its fantastic to see a local event like this run entirely by volunteers, for the people that live and work in Methley, so it’s been a pleasure to donate these funds. Barratt Homes is committed to working with existing communities in the areas where it builds and I’m certain our future residents at St Oswald’s View will be very welcome at the next festival!”

Peter Bloodworth, Chairman of MethleyFest, commented: “We’re very grateful to Barratt Homes at St Oswald’s View for the sponsorship of MethleyFest this year – the day proved really enjoyable for the local community! We saw around 2,500 people join us this weekend and the generous donation from Barratt helped us to put on a spectacular day!”

St Oswald’s View is a semi-rural development of 3 and 4 bedroom homes, located in the village of Methley, less than 9 miles from Leeds city centre. It is set to open in the Autumn and the new homes will offer suburban living with the convenience of nearby shops, pubs and transport links.
