TIS Coast it for Headway

A team from Mansfield-based TIS have raised more than £6,000 by taking part in a gruelling 140 mile bike ride over three days.

The team of seven was made up of Nick Kempson, Nick Cook, Mark Wilson, Gavin Hammond, Paul Lawrence, Richard Amatt and James Twigg. They completed the tough Global Adventures coast-to-coast charity cycle challenge - which starts at Whitehaven in Cumbria and ends at Tynemouth in Tyne & Wear - in August raise funds for the company’s chosen charity Headway in Nottingham.

James Twigg, TIS, managing director said: “The team have given up hours of their own time in order to get fit enough as not finishing simply wasn’t an option having raised so much money for Headway, a charity which means so much to us all at TIS. It’s been a fantastic experience and such a unique way to get fit, have fun and raise funds along the way”.

Richard Amatt, TIS, project manager said: “It was an unbelievable experience and although extremely tough at times just knowing we were raising funds for Headway gave us all the motivation we needed when things got really difficult. The route took us through some of the most stunning scenery in the country and so many people from all walks of life took part, everyone just pulled together – it was certainly an experience to remember”.

TIS is the UK’s leading independent fire, security and communication specialists.
