Plans for Irvine Sellar's Paddington Cube submitted to Westminster Council

Developer Irvine Sellar has submitted its plans for a new 14-storey office development, dubbed the Paddington Cube, to Westminster Council.

The proposals could see the former Royal Mail sorting office site in Paddington transformed into a 360,000 sq ft office property as part of £775m regeneration work which also includes 80,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space and a central piazza.

A decision on the plans is due in December after public outcry meant that original proposals for a 65-storey ‘Shard of West London’ were scrapped.

Conceived by Great Western Developments and Sellar Paddington Limited (SPL), the pair also claim that the project will create 4,000 new jobs.

SPL Chairman, Irvine Sellar, commented: “We are pleased to submit our revised plans for Paddington after months of public consultation.

“Paddington serves as an international gateway to London and our scheme provides both an elegant building and much needed new public space that will become a destination in its own right.

“We believe our plans will deliver significant improvements for the area surrounding Paddington Station and provide a catalyst for local retail, business and leisure to thrive.”
