Restaurateur Kurt Zdesar opening new restaurant in Marylebone

Property agency Shelley Sandzer has announced that restaurateur, Kurt Zdesar, is set to open a new eatery in Marylebone, adding another venue to his London line-up.

Fucina, which is Italian for ‘forge’, is to open this October at a 4,000 sq ft property on Chiltern Street at The Chilterns, W1 development, which will feature a private dining room that looks directly into the kitchen along with an interior designed by London-based architects Andy Martin Architecture.

In the kitchen, Stefano Stecca will be joining the 120-cover restaurant as Head Chef following on from positions at upmarket Novikov in Mayfair and Italian restaurant Toto’s Restaurant in Knightsbridge.

Ted Schama, Joint Managing Partner at Shelley Sandzer, said that the agents were pleased to be launching an ‘exciting concept’ in the heart of London.

He said: “Our key strategy was to secure the most exciting and suitable restaurant to complement the Chilterns development and the surrounding area, the well-known home to Andre Balazs’ Chiltern Firehouse and other standout sites.

“We had numerous offers, but Kurt Zdesar and his new concept struck us as a perfect fit, adding value to what is already a very special location.”

The property agents acted on behalf of landlords Frogmore, Galliard Homes and CJ O’Shea in the deal who have masterminded The Chilterns, W1 development which includes 44 apartments and leisure facilities.

Tim Allibone, Director of Asset management at Frogmore, added: “The Chilterns, W1 has been created as a modern flagship address for central London and we are thrilled to be entering this partnership with Kurt Zdesar, who brings further prestige to our development.”

Zdesar is also set to open a second property on Paddington Street which will sell homemade items from the Fucina kitchen.

Headed up by ex-Princi Head Baker, Massimiliano Porta, the ‘panetteria’ is due to open in November.
