Thirsty Thursday returns with special guest

Stokesley’s award-winning, free networking event returns next Thursday, 22nd September, after a summer break.

Thirsty Thursday will be joined by Andy Reddick, the Wheels2work coordinator for Hambleton Community Action, who will explain how businesses can benefit from the new scheme.

Wheels2Work has a fleet of 50cc mopeds available to be loaned for free to individuals wanting to commute to jobs or training in more rural areas which lack available transport.

Over the summer, Thirsty Thursday was named Hambleton Champion 2016 at Hambleton District Council’s Business Awards for championing the area as a great place to do business and for its support in working with a host of businesses and organisations through the monthly networking events and weekly newsletter as well as their database of contacts all over Hambleton.

Since its inception, Thirsty Thursday has attracted over 200 businesses to its events at The Mill in Stokesley. Businesses and organisations in and around the market town are invited to attend the events free of charge, between 5 and 7pm, to exchange ideas and expertise as well as promote their services, skills and opportunities.

Thirsty Thursday has regular speakers sharing information that could provide local businesses with opportunities and financial assistance. Speakers have included MP Rishi Sunak and representatives from Welcome to Yorkshire, local schools and colleges and Hambleton District Council.

The networking event was the brainchild of Anna Addison, who runs PR company Anna Addison Associates, and Sue Thompson, from Catch Design Management.

Anna said: “September sees many people returning to work after the summer holiday period and it’s a great time to meet new contacts and find out about up-and-coming opportunities for the last part of the year and the start of next year. We were over the moon to be named as Hambleton Champion over the summer as we certainly have a thriving and enthusiastic range of businesses and organisations that make Thirsty Thursday such a success.”

Sue added: “We’ve got some interesting guests booked to join us over the coming months with Wheels2Work kicking these off. We know lack of suitable transport is a real issue for lots of people who attend Thirsty Thursday so we thought Andy might be able to provide some helpful information.”

Thirsty Thursday, held at The Mill on Springfield, is free to attend.
