I-MOVIX launches six-figure Seedrs crowdfund as Benelux expansion bears fruit
Belgian tech brand I-MOVIX has launched its €250k equity crowdfund on Seedrs, becoming the first Belgian company to launch an investment drive on the platform following Seedrs’ expansion into the Belgium, Netherland, Luxembourg region.
The firm, which is most well-known for its range of super slow motion camera technology, has already raised over €90,000 in its drive to make the technology more affordable through the development of its new INFINITE disruptive camera concept.
Currently, the firm’s super slow mo cameras have been utilised across major worldwide sporting events, including the Beijing Olympics, the Superbowl and by UEFA.
However, with the proceeds of its crowdfunding effort, the ING-backed business hopes to be able to develop its new technology which will open up the market to a wider range of broadcasters by driving down the cost of the tech and making it more affordable.
Commenting on the firm’s ambitions, I-MOVIX co-founder Laurent Renard, who launched the company with his wife Nathalie Vinchent in 2006, said that he wanted to open its super slow motion tech to as wide a market as possible.
He said: “Our goal is to develop a brand new integrated solution to be sold at a competitive price so that top-quality super slow motion replays would now be accessible to every sport production and even wider afield, soap-operas, movies and news.
“We anticipate that this product will enable I-MOVIX to address a larger share of the market, one whose demand can’t be satisfied by existing products because of the unattainable price points.”
Seedrs opened its Amsterdam in July after obtaining an EU-wide Financial Services Passport from the Financial Conduct Authority, with ambitions to expand into the Benelux market.
David Mozes, Seedrs’s Regional Manager Benelux said that he had been impressed by early-stage ecosystem in the region.
He added: “We are delighted to welcome a disruptive tech innovator onto the Seedrs platform. The I-MOVIX team has shown passion and ambition and already have credibility in the Benelux with the backing of global bank ING.”
