Workspace's mixed-used Stratford site granted planning consent

Investment trust Workspace Group have been granted planning permission for a new mixed-use development near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Plans for redevelopment work at Stratford Office Village, which is less than 2km from the Olympic park and 600m from Stratford Train station, include the replacement of existing buildings with 101 residential units and 13,000 sq ft of commercial space.

The housing portion of the development will include townhouses, private apartments and 25% affordable housing and will provide a boost to Newham’s borough-wide housing targets.

Jamie Hopkins, Chief Executive of Workspace, commented: “We are delighted to have received planning permission for this redevelopment in Stratford, which will considerably increase the capital value of the site.

“This is one of a pipeline of opportunities that we are actively managing in order to drive shareholder returns over the long term.”

The site was valued at £14m in March this year and currently houses self-contained offices.
