Challenge accepted at Lingfield Point
Workers based at Lingfield Point in Darlington were back in the saddle supporting the Tees Valley Cycle Challenge this week – in keeping with the business park’s ethos of sustainable transport.
Staff from Capita took their meeting on the road with a quick al fresco meeting that took multi-tasking to a whole new level thanks to the eight-seater conference bike.
They were amongst the Lingfield Point customers supporting the Love to Ride Tees Valley Cycle Challenge, which aims to get more people cycling to work and for leisure.
Lingfield Point is the ideal place to promote cycling as it links up to the town-wide cycle network. The site provides a free bike hire service -with a range of Claud Butler bikes to encourage the use of the network.
The bike hire service is one of many sustainable initiatives now in place at the environmentally-conscious business park and adds to the well-used on-site bus service and the recently launched FAXI car sharing service.
The eight-seater conference bike was just one of a number of fun initiatives available to the 3,000 people based at Lingfield Point as part of the challenge.
Eddie Humphries, Estate Manager of Lingfield Point said: “It’s great to have taken part in the cycling challenge again this year it’s fun and there are the obvious health benefits too as our Head of Marketing, Sara Williams, found out.
“We don’t just pay lip service to sustainable transport, we have a regular bus service to site and earlier this year launched our Faxi car sharing service, for those who want to help reduce carbon emissions by sharing the journey to work.”
Claire Leman, Challenge Manager of Love to Ride Tees Valley, said: “We have a number of bikes to give away as part of the Challenge which rolls out across the Tees Valley - and we really hope the folks from Lingfield Point will take part.
“All they have to do for a chance to win is register on the website and use our app to record their cycle rides.”
