Yorkshire’s largest hospice secures new retail hub in Leeds
Property consultants JLL has leased new premises to the largest hospice in Yorkshire for a new retail hub in Bramley, near Leeds.
St Gemma’s Hospice, the largest hospice in Yorkshire, has taken an 8,837 sq ft commercial unit on Waterloo Lane in Bramley.
The new space will be used for a new charity shop and provide warehouse space for the storage and distribution of donated items.
Through its chain of 23 shops across Leeds, St Gemma’s generates retail sales by selling donated and second-hand goods which contribute towards the charity’s wider objectives of providing care and services to local people with terminal illnesses.
Jane Kent, head of retail at Gemma’s Hospice, said: “The new space will make our retail operation much more efficient and we are already seeing the benefits.
“The new charity shop is doing well and people like the fact that every penny they spend with us directly benefits the patients in our care in Leeds.
“We’d like to thank everyone involved for supporting this new project.”
Tom Asher, associate director in JLL Leeds office, added: “It was great to assist St Gemma’s to help their expansion plans in Leeds and I wish them every success with their new retail hub in Bramley.”
Ackroyd Dent acted on behalf of St Gemma’s.
