Deal signed for 15,620 sq ft M&S at Walkden Town Centre

Property firm The Derwent Group has agreed terms with M&S at its 160,000 sq ft Walkden Town Centre Retail Park development.

The multinational retailer has signed up for 15,620 sq ft at the Greater Manchester development on a 15-year lease.

M&S’ new store will comprise 10,620 sq ft of ground floor space and a 5,000 sq ft mezzanine for food retail.

The unit, G1A, is located on the corner adjacent to the recently opened Guess How Much and the Quality Save launching in January 2017.

Walkden Town Centre is already home to retail brands such as Tesco, Poundland, Boots, B&M, Pets at Home and JD Sports, along with coffee company Costa Coffee and fast food chains McDonalds, Subway and KFC.

James Maule-Ffinch, senior asset manager for The Derwent Group, said: “Our aim is to balance the retail mix to include quality brands alongside discount retailers and M&S was at the top of our list to cater for our diverse customer base.

“M&S has signed across a number of Derwent’s retail parks this year and we hope to do more with them as opportunities arise.”

Joint agents on the 160,000 sq ft Walkden Retail Park scheme are CSP and Petch & Co.
