Everton hope the Business Club will allow local firms to mix their love of football with commerce

Everton bring in Blues legend for Business Club launch

Everton legend Joe Royle and the club’s newly appointed director of football, Steve Walsh, have helped to kick-start the latest season of the Toffees’ Business Club.

Over 100 Evertonians joined the pair along with Blues CEO at the The Venue, the conference and events space at the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool, for the launch of the 2016/17 business offer.

Welcoming guests to the event, chief exec Robert Elstone discussed the club’s vision for the future, praised the loyalty of the workforce at Goodison and emphasised the importance of investing in employees.

With the launch of this year’s Everton Business Club, the Blues have pledged to give supporters the chance to network with fellow fans and leading North West organisations throughout the year, potentially offering local businesses and individuals the chance to combine their love of football with commerce.

Former Blues striker Joe Royle, who also managed Everton in the mid-90s, said after the event: “What a great night and how fantastic it was to see so many Blues’ turn out for the Business Club event.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect from the night but what a great way for Evertonians to come together, I know Steve really enjoyed himself too and he received a really warm welcome from everyone in attendance.”

Karen Yates, regional sales development manager at The Venue, said: “It has been a delight to welcome The Everton Business Club to The Venue for its first event this season.

“The Venue is becoming one of the city’s most sought-after locations for conferences, dinners and networking events and to be chosen by Everton Football Club is an honour.”

She added: “I hope the guests enjoyed the evening and the insight into modern football bestowed by Mr Royle, Mr Walsh and Mr Elstone.”
